7 Stages from Message to Movement.

Leaders want their teams to take action, and when teams don't take action, leaders get frustrated. Many leaders assume that they know why their team is underperforming, but assumptions are risky. If misdiagnosed, a leader's feedback feels like friction.

What if there was a way to diagnose the stage of action your team was at and then speak to that stage in a way that is specific and productive?

The 7 Action Stages allow leaders to know what's wrong so they can fix it.

  1. Stage 01

    No Action.

    Before they can hear the message, they have to be willing to hear it from you.

  2. Stage 02

    Reluctant Action.

    They have to see the gap, with evidence, and accept ownership of closing it.

  3. Stage 03

    Compliant Action.

    The change has to connect to something they personally want or stand to lose.

  4. Stage 04

    Hesitant Action.

    They have to believe the method will work, and that they can pull it off.

  5. Stage 05

    Committed Action.

    Friction removed, next step named, a clear yes out loud in their own words.

  6. Stage 06

    Sustained Action.

    The new behavior is built into the team's tools, rhythms, and reinforcement.

  7. Stage 07

    Contagious Action.

    The team carries the change to others without being prompted by you.
